OC Deputies assists Marshals in finding Wanted Man

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office assisted the U.S. Marshals office Wednesday morning in their search for a suspect wanted for kidnapping in Anderson County.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “According to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw, the Sheriff’s Office received a call this morning from the U.S. Marshals office out of Greenville indicating that a subject, Shannon Necoma Smith, may be located on Henson Lane near Walhalla.  That address is near James M. Brown Elementary School. Sheriff Crenshaw asked the school district to place the school on a code yellow, which according to the Sheriff, means that all exterior doors are secured and no one comes in or out while the school continues normal operations inside.  This was done, according to the Sheriff, as a precaution just in case the subject was found at this location and attempted to flee.  Smith was found inside a residence on Henson Lane and was arrested without incident and was then transported, according to Sheriff Crenshaw, back to Anderson County.”  The school resumed normal operations Wednesday morning.
