OC Deputy walks for Salem Students

Oconee County Sheriff’s Deputy Norm Dukes is walking again to help schoolchildren in Salem. A year ago, the Tamassee-Salem Middle and HIgh School resource officer walked 164-miles from the North Carolina line to the State Capitol in Columbia to raise money for the school’s athletic program. This year, Dukes is walking 125-miles from the State Capitol to Sullivan’s Island to help raise funds for 38-fifth grade students to visit Washington, D.C. this spring. Dukes started this year’s walk on Nov. 2 and is scheduled to conclude his walk on New Year’s Eve.
