OC Employees to get Pay Raises

Oconee County employees can look forward to pay increases this year. Last night, the Oconee County Council changed numbers in the new budget to reflect a $1,200 pay raise for each full time employee. Sister station WGOG reports that the raises achieve council’s intent to ensure that employees making less than $30,000, such as starting deputies, receive the largest percentage increase. The council included raises after hearing that the county would make up the cost through savings on workers’ compensation, by reducing the amount the county contributes toward the retirement fund, and by eliminating three salaried positions.
