OC EMS to receive Oxygen Mask for Pets

Oconee County Emergency Services has recently received word that Fire Departments across the county will now be equipped with pet oxygen masks.  Oconee County Assistant Fire Chief Shane Gibbs gives details.  “Various sources estimate that up to 150,000 pets die each year in fires, most succumbing to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders are not equipped to deal with the crisis because they lack the specially designed pet oxygen masks. The masks are being donated by Invisible Fence® Brand who is in the business of supporting causes that save pets lives.” Project Breathe™ is a pet oxygen mask donation program that allows local fire departments to access oxygen mask kits to first responders.
