OC Investigators at Home Invasion-Homicide

Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a deadly home invasion this morning on Ames Street near Seneca. Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details.  “Our investigators have been on scene since about 7:41am this morning when our dispatch received a call concerning a home invasion at 24 Ames Street that is on the Utica Mill Hill in Seneca.  That call came in about 7:36am.  There was a woman at the residence who told dispatch that a couple of males wearing masks entered the home, she had been tied up and there was a male inside the house that had been shot.  Besides our deputies on the scene, Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis was called to the scene as well.  The case is currently being investigated as a home invasion that resulted in a homicide.  Our investigators are still on scene gathering evidence and the investigation is on going.” Watt said there is no need for the public to be alarmed or take any safety action.  “No concerns for the public, our investigators have been on the scene all morning, so there is no public action that needs to be taken.” The name of the homicide victim has not been released at this time by the Oconee County Coroner’s Office.
