OC Libray Website giving Info on Sales Tax Referendum

When Oconee County voters head to the polls on Nov. 4, they will decide on a proposed one-cent sales tax increase that would fund ten projects across the county, including new and improved library facilities. Oconee County Public Library Branch Services Librarian Blair Hinson says information on the sales tax referendum is available on the library’s website. “We’ve got, not only information about the libraries, I mean you basically do have nine different projects that are part of this overall referendum. The libraries are a big part of it in large part because the libraries are one of the places that we have the greatest need right now. There are many things including the Library System that have not seen improvement in a number of years. Coming along with the aquatic facility and that kind of thing, we just do not have those facilities here in Oconee County. The Foothills Agricultural Center for resources and marketing farming and that is important not only for our agricultural heritage but also for projects like the Farmers’ Market. We are not in this for the nostalgia, these things are vital for quality of life in Oconee County.” Learn more about the capital sales tax referendum proposed for Oconee County so you can be an educated voter on Nov. 4 at www.oconeelibrary.org.
