OC records One Inch of Snow

One inch of snow fell Tuesday afternoon in Oconee County, according to the official weather observer.  However, in the mountains of northern Oconee County, more than two inches of snow fell. Official U.S. Weather Observer Barbara Wilson gives details.  “We had an inch here, I don’t know who measured up in the mountains but I would assume they would have more up there.  We had one inch here in Walhalla at the station and that translates into 1,100 of melted precipitation.” The last major snowfall in Oconee County was back on Jan. 10, 2011 when six inches of powder fell.  Barbara Wilson has been the official weather observer in Oconee County since 2000 and her family has been tracking the weather in the Golden Corner of South Carolina for more than 100 years.
