OC Sales Tax Commission makes List

Oconee County’s Sales Tax Commission has its list of capital projects to send to the County Council. It took two hours of discussion and votes Monday night before commissioners settled on seven separate projects. Those projects await final approval from the Oconee County Council on April 10 when County Administrator Scott Moulder presents how the projects are to be financed. In the end, it comes down to the voters who will decide the fate of the referendum in the November General Election. The issue will be whether the voters are willing to accept paying an additional penny of local sales tax to pay for the projects.   The two most expensive projects were $11 million for an indoor aquatic and recreation center and $10 million for library projects in Seneca, Walhalla, and Westminster.
