OC School Enrollment Figures

Now that we are a month into the new school year and students have been able to adjust, the School District of Oconee County announces enrollment figures. Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent Steve Hanvey gives current enrollment numbers. “In our K-12, we have 10,175 students currently. Now if we add in our 4K, our 3 and 4-year-old PIP programs and those kind of things that adds another 367 students for our total 10,542 if you count from the three-year programs.” Hanvey gives the largest elementary, middle and high schools in the School District of Oconee County. “Northside is currently the largest elementary school with Blue Ridge and James M. Brown close. The middle school that had the most students this time was Seneca Middle. All the high schools are within about 25 or 30 students of each other. Walhalla High is about 960 or so and then the others are close. Then of course Tamassee-Salem High is right at 300 students.” Grade level class sizes are roughly the same, concludes Hanvey. “The largest class we have is our current freshman class with 875 kids. Our smallest class is our junior class at 674 and we generally average between 750-800 per class across the district.” To learn more about the School District of Oconee County or your child’s school, visit www.oconee.k12.sc.us.
