OC Sheriff gives 2015 Crime Stats

oc sheriffs officeSheriff Mike Crenshaw as part of his annual review gave a summary of crime activity in Oconee County in 2015 yesterday. “Two encouraging areas for me were 432 burglaries reported in 2015 compared to 479 reported in 2014. Larcenies went down from 763 in 2014 to 725 in 2015. That is encouraging for me. Of course, we saw a slight increase in shoplifting, so we were not down in all areas. Arsons were up by three, we had one more robbery than we did in 2014 and motor vehicle thefts jumped on us, so there are other areas that obviously we need to work on.” There were nine arson cases, 8 robbery cases and 77 motor vehicle thefts. In addition, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reported 2 homicides and 44 death investigations in 2015.
