OC Sheriff’s Office arrests 5th Westminster Resident in Burglary Case

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man late Thursday night on outstanding warrants that charge him with receiving stolen goods and accessory after the fact of a felony. The man also had an outstanding magistrate’s bench warrant. 41-year-old Calvin Clark Webb was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center just before midnight. Webb is the fifth person charged in a case that began with a burglary and larceny on Moore Hill Road on July 3 and then involved the receiving of goods stolen in the burglary and the selling of some of those items. On Tuesday, 42-year-old April Dawn Nix and 43-year-old Jimmy Dwayne Webb were booked into the Oconee County Detention Center after being arrested by the warrants division of the Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants charging both of them with also receiving stolen goods and accessory after the fact of a felony. According to investigators, a burglary occurred on July 3 at the Moore Hill Road address. Investigators report that firearms, a 2004 GMC pickup, an antique with family heirlooms inside, money, credit cards, social security cards, birth certificates and other items were taken. Investigators believe that the amount of items taken from the burglary was around $10,000. Shortly after the burglary, 44-year-old Bobby Ray Carroll and 43-year-old Sherry Anita Honea Gibson, both of whom investigators say committed the Moore Hill Road burglary, went to the Cobb Bridge Road address and gave at that time certain items to both Webb subjects and Nix. In turn, both Webb subjects and Nix started making phone calls to sell the items. At this point, the items were sold and some of the items taken were recovered, including one firearm that was found on July 16 and the antique chest, which was recovered on July 11 and was found empty by investigators. The 2004 GMC pickup was recovered in Transylvania County, North Carolina on July 4. According to investigators, Nix and both Webb subjects received into their possession two handguns and the antique chest. The value of the items they sold was around $775. Nix and both Webb subjects aided Carroll and Honea Gibson to get rid of the stolen items, which led to the accessory charges. Carroll and Honea Gibson were each charged with grand larceny and first-degree burglary in the case. Carroll is currently being held in Transylvania County, North Carolina on unrelated charges. Honea Gibson was served the warrants at the Oconee County Detention Center while being held on unrelated charges. Calvin Clark is being held at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $7,000 surety bond. Honea Gibson, Jimmy Webb and Nix are also still being held at the Detention Center.
