OC Sheriff’s Office arrests Seneca Man for Drugs

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man on Friday afternoon on manufacturing marijuana charges. 31-year-old William Andrew Craig, Jr. of 1236 Burns Drive was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4:18pm. A deputy responded to the Burns Drive location during the lunch hour Friday in response to a call from DSS, who responded to the address due to a complaint that they received. The DSS representative informed the deputy of what appeared to be a marijuana plant growing in a flowerpot beside the home. The representative was not allowed to do a walkthrough of the residence and was asked to leave by Craig, Jr. A deputy responded and spoke with Craig, Jr. and another person at the residence. The deputy was given permission to search the residence and the vehicle on the property. The search revealed what appeared to be six marijuana plants in a trash bag in the trunk of the vehicle. Craig, Jr. told the deputy that the plants were his and he was the only one who knew about the plants. Craig, Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Detention Center. The evidence was turned over the narcotics agents of the Sheriff’s Office. Craig, Jr. was released after a bond hearing on Saturday on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
