OC Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in Walmart Shoplifting Case

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a July 21 shoplifting case from the Walmart on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca that the Sheriff’s Office issued a press release about seeking the public’s help. A deputy responded to the store regarding an employee who stopped a male subject at the exit and asked to see a receipt. The subject produced a receipt and then left a cart with items inside, even items that had been purchased. The subject then left the store. A deputy observed surveillance footage of the subject scanning items and placing them either in a shopping cart or in grocery bags with items that had already been scanned. According to deputies, $37.78 in items was paid for while the total amount of the unpaid items was $225.62. All of the items were recovered by the store. Acting on information received by deputies, an arrest warrant was issued against 26-year-old Phillip James Manley II of Seneca on shoplifting charges. Manley is still being held at the Oconee County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
