OC Sheriff’s Office receives Donation from Mayberry Comes To Westminster

For the second consecutive year, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has received a donation from the “Mayberry Comes To Westminster” festival to be used in drug education at schools in Oconee County. Tom Rusk, who is the event coordinator for the festival, which was held May 1-2, recently presented a $500 check in front of the Westminster Depot to Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. With this donation, “Mayberry Comes To Westminster” has now donated $1,000 for the drug education efforts in Oconee County schools. “We had several sponsorships for the Westminster event each year from businesses and civic organizations over and above what our costs are,” says Rusk. “This is the second year we have done this and we just want to try to help out.” Plans are already underway, according to Rusk, for the sixth annual “Mayberry Comes To Westminster” in 2016. “We are grateful for the support Tom and “Mayberry Comes To Westminster” has given to the Sheriff’s Office to further our efforts to educate the students of Oconee County about the dangers of drugs and drug abuse,” says Sheriff Crenshaw. “Along with our enforcement and treatment efforts, we continue to work to make Oconee County free from the scourge of drugs and a safe place for our citizens to live, work and play.”
