OC Sheriff’s Office warning of Counterfeit Bills

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is warning businesses to be wary of counterfeit money being passed after three separate instances affecting county businesses in the past month that the Sheriff’s Office either has or is investigating currently.  The latest instance occurred June 24th at the McDonald’s on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca.  Back on May 27th, a man reportedly passed two $20 counterfeit bills to the cashier at the McDonald’s on Scenic Plaza Drive in West Union.  One day earlier on May 26th, a Walhalla resident was given a counterfeit $20 bill in exchange for a piece of furniture, which the individual never came back to claim.  If you have any information concerning these cases, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office asks you to get in touch with CrimeStoppers at 638-STOP or text your tip to 274637.  You do not have to give your name and if your tip leads to an arrest, you could eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
