OC Special Election Tuesday

On Tuesday, Oconee County voters head to the polls for a special election to decide who will fill the remaining months of the late Councilman Archie Barron’s term.  Voting takes place at six precincts to decide who will represent District 3 on the County Council, explains Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Director Joy Brooks.  “On Tuesday, April 1, we will be holding the District 3 Special Republican Primary to fill the vacancy on County Council.  Precincts will be open from 7am to 7pm and that would be the Utica Polling Place, the Newry-Corinth Polling Place and then the Seneca 1, 2, 3 and 4 that vote at Shaver will be open as well.” Tuesday’s contest between Republicans Paul Cain and Andy Inabinet, in effect, decides which of the two men fills the remaining months of the term of the late Archie Barron. Nevertheless, Tuesday will not be the only time for Cain and Inabinet to meet at the polls. They both are signed up as candidates to run in the June regular primary to be their party’s nominee to run in the November General Election for a full, four-year term.
