OC Tax Rate to remain Unchanged

The Oconee County Council decided last night to leave the tax rate alone this year. The council unanimously voted to keep the county tax rate at 215 mills, even though it was told that a revised Duke Energy assessment would mean an additional $405,000. Based on that revised assessment, Oconee County Auditor Ken Nix gave the council the option to drop the 2014 tax rate by 1.9 mills.
