OC to honor Fallen Deputy with Blood Drive

As part of Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Week, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office hosts a blood drive today to honor a fallen officer. The annual Schuck Memorial Blood Drive takes place from 11am to 7pm behind the Oconee County Law Enforcement Center at 300 South Church Street in Walhalla. The blood drive is held each year in memory of the late Deputy Bill Schuck, who died in the line of duty on Feb. 7, 2010. The Blood Connection conducts the blood drive and free t-shirts will be given to donors. During the blood drive, donations will also be accepted for the Schuck Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to high school students in the law enforcement program at the Hamilton Career Center who wish to pursue a college degree in a law enforcement career. The week of May 11-15 is recognized each year as Law Enforcement Officers Appreciation Week.
