OC United Way receives Emergency Funds

Oconee County has been chosen to receive $29,264 in federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The local Board of Directors for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program will meet to determine how the funds awarded to Oconee County are to be distributed among emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area.  Only non-profit agencies may apply no individuals.  For an agency to apply for these funds they must be a private voluntary non-profit or unit of government, be eligible to receive federal funds, have an accounting system, practice non-discrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and have a voluntary Board of Directors.  Any agency interested in applying for funds or would like further information; contact Kimberly Ellis at the United Way of Oconee County at 864-882-9743 extension 101 no later than November 1st at noon.
