OC Woman burned in Fire

While attempting to extinguish a brush fire in Oconee County on Tuesday, an elderly woman suffered burns and was taken by ambulance to Oconee Medical Center.  Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King reports that the woman was burning brush near Oak Street and Wells Highway when the fire became out of control.  Two fire departments responded in less than 20 minutes and the brush fire was contained around 5pm.  Chief King said he feels the woman will recover from her wounds.  With warm days the past four days, firefighters have seen a rise in brush fires in Oconee County.
