Oconee County Coroner Reports Traffic Fatality Near Westminster

A 54 year-old Franklin, NC man died Sunday evening in Oconee County at approximately 6:15 pm after a single vehicle collision.

He is identified as Jerry Curtis Green.

Mr. Green was the driver of an 18-wheeler fuel truck which overturned on Long Creek Highway (U.S. 76) near Spy Rock Road west of Westminster. He died at the scene.

He was in transit from the fuel depot at Belton, SC back to Franklin, NC at the time of the collision.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning; his cause of death was from positional asphyxiation, according to the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, who added that his manner of death is classified accidental.
