Oconee County Council Chair Recommends Pay Raise for County Sheriff
Oconee County Council Chair John Elliott this week said no to the idea that it’s time to raise the pay of those who serve in the part-time county government positions, and said $8,000 annually is fine with him.
However, Elliott did suggest raising the pay of the county’s full-time elected Sheriff, Mike Crenshaw. Chairman Elliott proposed on Tuesday to give Sheriff Crenshaw a $20,000 salary increase. Elliott said instead of increasing council members pay by $4,000 to $12,000, the difference should instead be added to the Sheriff’s salary.
