Oconee County Council Hears First Reading of Redistricting Proposal

First reading of a new map to redistrict Oconee County’s five council and school board districts was approved last night by the county council. It has been the preference of the council to make the smallest adjustments as possible while staying true to the doctrine of one-man, one-vote, during the required re-districting that follows each population census.

The public is invited to weigh-in on county redistricting at a February 15 hearing.

Third and final reading of the ordinance is scheduled for a meeting in March.
