Oconee County Council Meeting This Evening

The Oconee County Council will convene this evening at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers. The Council will review and approve the minutes from the March 19 regular meeting.

The County Attorney and Administrator will provide their comments, succeeded by a presentation of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation to the Sheriff’s Office and insights from the Appalachian Council of Governments.

A public comment session is scheduled, allowing community members to voice their opinions. The Council will then address public hearings for ordinances concerning a Commercial Junkyard Ordinance, easement rights for sewer and utility infrastructure at the Seneca Rail Park, amendments to the county budget, and a fee-in-lieu tax agreement with ‘Project Cherry’.

The meeting will progress to discuss a fund transfer for the Rock Quarry, committee reports, board appointments, and conclude with an executive session to deliberate on legal advice, safety equipment for the Sheriff’s Office, and land acquisition for the Rock Quarry. The session will end with a decision on law enforcement officer equipment upgrades.
