Oconee County Council Meeting Tonight

Significant financial matters, some reaching into the millions, are set to be discussed at tonight’s Oconee County Council meeting.

The meeting, scheduled for 6 PM in the council chambers, will provide an opportunity for the county’s governing body to review the agenda for their inaugural February meeting. This includes a substantial amount of backup material, which reportedly extends over 140 pages, according to a council observer.

In anticipation of tonight’s meeting, Council Chairman Matthew Durham has announced that the first reading of “The Oconee Conservative Budget” will take place. He characterizes this document as a milestone because it restricts growth to a rate that does not exceed the combined annual inflation and population growth percentages.
