Oconee County Council Meeting Tuesday

The Oconee County Council Meeting, chaired by Matthew Durham, is set to take place on Tuesday at 6pm in the County Council Chambers. The agenda includes proclamations for National Safe Boating Week and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.

Notably, the Corinth-Shiloh Fire Department’s plans to create a special tax district have been included in the agenda. To hold a special election within the Corinth-Shiloh district, the council’s consent is required.

Resolution 2024-10, which calls for a special tax district election to determine if the Corinth-Shiloh Special Purpose Tax District for fire protection should be created, is up for first and final reading. The resolution also directs the county board elections and voter registration to hold an election and certify the results to the council.

Discussions on several ordinances related to tax agreements and industrial/business park developments are also on the agenda.

The meeting is open to the public.
