Oconee County Council Member Out of Jail on Bond

Agents from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Oconee County Councilman Matthew Durham with domestic violence second degree and unlawful neglect of a child, a felony, after they were requested by Sheriff Mike Crenshaw to investigate allegations filed against the District Two representative.

In the domestic violence warrant, Durham is accused in a Mountain Rest incident September 4, 2020, in which “the defendant did cause physical harm or injury…by grabbing, pushing or shoving while two minor children were present.” The unlawful neglect warrant alleges that offense occurred March 21, 2020 and August 12, 2020.

Durham was booked into jail on Friday afternoon around 1:30pm and released on a $30,000 personal recognizance bond. His next court appearance is set for June 16th.
