Oconee County named Work Ready Community

State and county officials tout a new accomplishment for Oconee County as one of three counties added to a list of 29 South Carolina counties certified as “Work Ready”. In addition to Oconee County, Hampton and Spartanburg counties were added to the list. These counties must meet specified workforce and education goals, demonstrating to business a strong workforce and commitment to economic growth. An announcement from South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley says, “To become a South Carolina Work Ready Community, a county has to reach or exceed goals in earning National Career Readiness Certificates, which are achieved through Work Keys testing, meet or exceed the three-year graduation rate average of improvement percentage, and engage business support.”
