Oconee County PRIDE Rally Planned for this Saturday

Hayden Laye, the self-described 17 year-old Democratic Socialist from Walhalla who organized a pro-life, anti-abortion rally a couple of weeks ago in Seneca, is planning another rally this weekend.

This time, it’s the Oconee County Pride Rally in support of LGBTQ+ Rights and Equality and the Respect for Marriage Act (RFMA), a bill that would codify same-sex and interracial marriages into federal law. The bill was passed by the US House of Representatives by a vote of 267-157, with 45 Republicans crossing party lines to vote with House Democrats on the measure. Representative Jeff Duncan was not one of those Republicans.

Laye is calling on Senators Graham and Scott to vote for the bill when it reaches the Senate. The Oconee County Pride Rally is scheduled for this Saturday, August 6th at 4:00pm in front of Seneca City Hall.
