Oconee County PRT Commission Meeting Thursday

A noon meeting in Oconee County Council Chambers has been set for Thursday, according to a Parks, Recreation and Tourism Commission agenda. Members will discuss and vote on twelve new grant applications that have been received.

Among the applicants, the City of Seneca is seeking $25,000 for advertising of the annual Independence Day Celebration; Discover Upcountry Carolina Association has asked for $15,000 for advertising; Museum of the Cherokee needs $12,000 for an archaeological dig; the Oconee Chamber of Commerce has asked for employee funding in the amount of $15,000 toward their Westminster Office; the FARM Center wishes to install safety lighting and has requested $10,000; Walhalla PAC is seeking $15,000 to advertise their 2023 season; Westminster Music Center and Wild Hearts Equine Therapy are asking for $10,000 each. Westminster Music Center wants to advertise Music on Main, and Wild Hearts has a construction project planned.

Entities requesting less than $10,000 each were the Eagles Nest Arts Center, the Gateway Arts Council, and the South Carolina Apple Festival, all for advertising purposes, along with the Oconee Military Museum, who requested funds for a window replacement.

Grants for the fall cycle will be due August 15, 2023 by 3:00 pm.
