Oconee County Public Library now offers assistance with a new Community Resource Associate

The Oconee County Public Library is moving into a new area of service to our community with the addition of a new Community Resource Associate, Kerry Leeper Brock. Kerry will have the role of partly a social worker (she is a licensed professional social worker), offering direct assistance to people in the community with everything from access to primary health care to housing and food insecurity issues to job seeking assistance and more. She will also be meeting with and establishing partnerships for the library with a vast array of social service agencies here in Oconee County. Furthermore, she will be helping those agencies get the word out about what they do through the library’s website and social media.

The position was funded through a grant from the Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare’s Libraries and Health Innovations grant program in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). While she will be based out of the Walhalla Headquarters Library, Kerry will visit all library locations on a regular schedule.
