Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Announces Beards for Leadership Development for November and December

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing today that deputies are participating in the first ever “Beards for Leadership Development” during the months of November and December.

“During previous years, our deputies participated in ‘No Shave November’ as a way to raise money for non-profit organizations,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “This year, deputies are donating $20 per month for November and December to be able to wear a beard during those two months. The money that is raised will be going towards a scholarship fund set up by the Oconee Sheriff’s Foundation that will allow our deputies to further their education at an accredited college or university in a degree program that can used in their law enforcement careers.”

“Beards for Leadership Development” is part of Sheriff Crenshaw’s emphasis on leadership development in the Sheriff’s upcoming third term which begins in January of 2021. The emphasis on leadership development will not only allow deputies to grow as leaders in their chosen profession but also to be leaders in their homes and communities as well, according to Sheriff Crenshaw. For those deputies who chose to wear beards, they must keep their beards trimmed and neat.

“If any of our citizens would like to donate to help our deputies to grow educationally and professionally, they are more than welcome to donate money as well by reaching out to Helen Westmoreland, Community Outreach Coordinator at the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, at 864-638-4117 or by e-mail at [email protected],” according to Sheriff Crenshaw.
