Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Attempted Murder Suspect

An Attempted Murder suspect wanted by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the Seneca Police Department was arrested this morning by Deputies and Investigators near Seneca.  

Kristopher Lamar Jenkins

34 year old Kristopher Lamar Jenkins was taken into custody around 10:08am at an address on Walter Morris Drive near Martin Creek Road.  Jenkins was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 11:31am this morning on charges by the Sheriff’s Office and the Seneca Police Department.  

Investigators filed an Attempted Murder charge against Jenkins this week in relation to a Sunday evening shooting on Rock Crusher Road.  The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

In addition to the Attempted Murder charge, Investigators have also charged Jenkins with one count each of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon in regards to the same incident.  According to an arrest warrant, Jenkins was convicted of Armed Robbery in 2012.

Also, further evidence obtained during the investigation led Investigators to charge Jenkins with one count each of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Financial Transaction Card Fraud.  According to the arrest warrants, Jenkins was in possession of a stolen vehicle at a business on Longcreek Highway near Westminster on Sunday of this week.  The vehicle was reported stolen to the Seneca Police Department.

Jenkins is also accused of using the victim of the stolen vehicle’s banking card at the same business to purchase a Bic lighter.

Benjamin Eric Ramey

Also taken into custody today at the Walter Morris Drive address, on outstanding warrants, was 40 year old Benjamin Eric Ramey.  Ramey was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 11:13am this morning.

Ramey was charged by the Sheriff’s Office with one count each of Driving under Suspension, Operating a Moped without a License Plate and Operating a Motor Vehicle not registered in relation to a traffic stop that occurred on June 23rd.  

Ramey was also booked into jail today on a Family Court Bench Warrant and an arrest warrant on a Probation Violation.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
