Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Central Teenager in Ongoing Armed Robbery Investigation
An 18-year-old Central teenager remains in jail today, on a combined $610,000 surety bond, after his arrest yesterday in an ongoing armed robbery investigation.
18-year-old Rodrickus Demale Williams II, of Lynwood Drive, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center at around 10:24am Thursday. Williams II was served with outstanding warrants charging him with one count of Attempted Murder, two counts of Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling and one count of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.
A 17-year-old Central male was also detained yesterday, in the ongoing investigation, on charges of Accessory Before and After the Fact of a Felony. The juvenile was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 10:07am Thursday. At this time, the 17-year-old remains detained at the Detention Center on a combined $150,000 surety bond.
Both Williams II and the 17-year-old were taken into custody yesterday in Anderson County in conjunction with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Custody of both was then transferred to a Deputy from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, who then transported them to the Detention Center in Oconee.
On Friday, November 25th, 18-year-old Jasean Tyrelle Waters, of West Lane, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on charges of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime in relation to the same investigation. At this time, Waters remains in jail on a combined $85,000 surety bond.
The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on the afternoon of November 12th of this year after Deputies responded to the Utica Mill Hill, near Seneca, due to reports of shots being fired in the area.
Deputies made contact with the victims at a location on Gammell Street. According to information obtained during the investigation, Waters received money from one of the victims, then pointed a firearm at him, kept the money and got into a silver Buick sedan.
Once the victims went back inside of the residence, gunfire was reportedly heard outside of the residence.
The investigation was turned over to a Violent Crimes Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Based on evidence that was obtained during the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained against Waters, Williams and the 17-year-old juvenile.
According to the investigation, Waters took money from the victim, by use or threat of force, while armed with a pistol.
According to arrest warrants, Williams possessed a firearm during the commission of the crime, attempted to cause the death of one of the victims by shooting at him and discharged a firearm into a dwelling on Gammell Street.
Also, according to arrest warrants, the 17-year-old advised was present when the offense was committed and aided and assisted those involved in the crime both before and after the fact. Due to the age of the minor charged and detained, no information can be provided that would, either directly or indirectly, identify him.
Both Williams and Waters will have to wear an electronic monitoring device, as a condition of bond, should they be released from jail.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing with its investigation.
