Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man with Georgia and South Carolina ties on Multiple Charges Related to Two Separate Incidents

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the arrest of a man with ties to both Georgia and South Carolina on multiple charges related to two separate incidents that occurred during this past summer.

35 year old William Mark Mize, Jr., who has listed addresses of McCarty Road in Statham, GA, no fixed address in Westminster and Walhalla Gardens Circle in Walhalla, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 5:11pm Tuesday. Deputies from the Warrants Division transferred Mize, Jr. to Oconee County from Clark County, GA.

In regards to the first incident, an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division charged Mize, Jr. with one count each of Third Degree Burglary, Petit Larceny and Third Degree Arson in regards to a break-in of a semi-tractor trailer that belonged to the Goodwill location on Highway 123 near Seneca back on August 11th of this year. During the incident, according to arrest warrants, Mize, Jr. is accused of stealing items from the trailer that belonged to Goodwill as well as setting fire to the semi-tractor trailer on the Goodwill property.

In regards to the second incident, the investigator charged Mize, Jr. with one count each of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime in relation to an incident that occurred on August 13th of this year at an address on Rainbow Row in Westminster. During that incident, Mize, Jr. is accused of attacking the victim while armed with a knife with the victim obtaining an injury to his arm.

Mize, Jr., who was also served with a Walhalla Municipal Bench Warrant, remains in custody at this time at the Detention Center on a combined $57,205.00 surety bond.

A second person charged in both cases, 33 year old Jennifer Elizabeth Beanes of Athens, GA, was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on August 21st of this year. Beanes cases were adjudicated in General Sessions Courts and she was given a sentence of Probation.
