An Oconee County man, wanted on eight outstanding Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrants, was arrested Thursday evening during a warrants service.

Levi Marion McJunkin

33-year-old Levi Marion McJunkin, who has listed addresses in West Union and Westminster, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 10:26pm Thursday. McJunkin was taken into custody at an address on Ebenezer Road near West Union.

The outstanding arrest warrants charge McJunkin with one count each of Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, driving under Suspension, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Driving Uninsured and Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, along with two counts of Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime.
The outstanding arrest warrants against McJunkin stem from an incident that occurred late in the morning on July 25th of this year. On that date, a Deputy from the P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) team, while on routine patrol on Ebenezer Road, observed a Honda Odyssey van being driven on the road with a broken windshield.

The Deputy attempted a traffic stop due to the traffic violation. The driver, who was identified as McJunkin, turned into a driveway of a residence on Ebenezer Road. McJunkin did not stop and continued driving. After driving behind a different residence on Ebenezer Road, McJunkin got out of the van and ran away. Deputies were unable to locate McJunkin.

As the Deputies continued their investigation, two firearms were discovered inside of the
abandoned vehicle. Deputies also located approximately 26 grams of Methamphetamine inside of the van as well as a quantity of Marijuana.

The van was towed away from the scene. Based upon evidence obtained during the
investigation, arrest warrants were obtained against McJunkin.

At this time, McJunkin remains in jail on a $75,807.50 surety bond.
