Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Oconee Teenager on Attempted Murder Charge

An Oconee teenager remains in jail today, on a combined $652,205.00 surety bond, after his arrest yesterday evening on Attempted Murder charges in relation to a shooting incident.

18 year old Truett Gregory Brock, who has listed addresses on Brock Road in Westminster, and White Pine Drive in Fair Play, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 11:27pm. Brock was transported to the Detention Center from the city of Anderson.

Brock has also been charged with one count each of Domestic Violence – 1st Degree, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime and Malicious Injury to Property in regards to the same incident.

23 year old Julian Tristin Mackenzi Garren of West Union, also wanted in connection with the incident,. has been charged with one count each of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during Commission of a Violent Crime, Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree and Malicious Injury to Property. He fled the Upstate but was captured overnight in Unicoi County, TN by the Erwin Police Department. Unicoi County is located along the Tennessee/North Carolina border, just south of Johnson City, Tennessee. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has placed a hold on Garren, and extradition proceedings will begin in order for him to be brought back to Oconee County.

Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Bureau responded to the White Pine Drive address early Tuesday morning in regards to a reported break-in in which multiple doors were damaged and gunshots were fired inside of a residence. Deputies observed multiple gunshots to the bathroom door. Brock and Garren were not on scene when deputies arrived.

Deputies were also advised that an adult male may have been injured; however, that man was not located on scene when deputies arrived. The man was located later and suffered only minor injuries.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Based on evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Brock and Garren caused damage to multiple doors. Two adult females, who were household members of Brock and Garren respectively, were on scene during the incident, along with two minor children. According to arrest warrants, shots were fired multiple times through the bathroom door. A handgun was also used in the commission of the crime.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. Due to the nature of the crime, the names of any victim’s will not be released by the Sheriff’s Office.
