Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Pickens County Man on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pickens County man Thursday on a charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 3rd Degree.

37 year old Joseph Henry Nix, who has listed addresses in Easley and Liberty, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:23pm yesterday.  Nix was taken into custody by law enforcement in Pickens County and transfer of custody was made to a deputy with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation began on June 1st of this year after deputies took a report which stated that Nix had inappropriately touched a child in the Seneca area.  

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.  Based on evidence that was obtained during the investigation, it was determined that Nix had inappropriately touched the child between September of last year and June of this year.  The investigation only involved one victim.  

At this time, Nix remains in jail as his bond was denied.  Nix will appear before a Circuit Court Judge, at a later time, regarding his bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and the Sheriff’s Office will not release any information that could in anyway, either directly or indirectly, identify the minor victim in this investigation.
