Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Charges Related to Two Separate Investigations

John Melvin Miller, Jr.

John Melvin Miller, Jr., 25, from Seneca, is in jail on a $441,345 bond after being arrested on multiple charges from two investigations. Arrested at a Spartanburg County hotel, he faces charges including First Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Armed Robbery from an August 2nd incident, and Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Reckless Driving, and others from a second incident on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

A 17-year-old male was also detained at the same location as Miller, Jr., and faces charges of First-Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Armed Robbery in connection with the August 2nd incident. He was transported to a Department of Juvenile Justice facility to await legal proceedings in Family Court.

The charges are related to the same crime for which Miller, Jr. is being charged. Miller, Jr. allegedly stole over $100,000 in cash, two firearms, and a safe during the burglary. He was later observed speeding and failed to stop, leading to additional charges.

The vehicle he was driving, found later, contained an open bottle of Brandy and a firearm, according to investigators. As a convicted felon, Miller, Jr. is prohibited from possessing firearms, they said.

The investigation by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
