Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Seneca Man on Multiple Drug and Weapon Charges after Traffic Stop

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man Sunday morning on multiple drug and weapon charges after a traffic stop.

54 year old Kenneth Scott Sills of Bountyland Road has been charged with one count each of Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and Possession of a Sawed off Shotgun. Sills has also been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division, on routine patrol on Highway 123 near Seneca early Sunday morning, observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. A check of the tag on the Dodge Dakota pickup revealed that the tag was registered to a Honda. The deputy initiated a traffic stop in a business parking lot.

After making contact with the driver, identified as Sills, the deputy learned that Sills did not have a driver’s license, nor was the vehicle insured or registered. The deputy also learned that Sills had a loaded shotgun in the vehicle, which the deputy retrieved. During the course of the investigation, the deputy also discovered a loaded pistol inside of the vehicle as well as a quantity of narcotics and an open container of alcohol.

Sills also had an outstanding Walhalla Municipal Bench Warrant. Sills was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

Sills was also charged by the deputy with one count each of Driving under Suspension, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Failure to Register a Vehicle and for an Open Container, which were written on traffic tickets.

At this time, Sills remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $18,030.00 surety bond. Sills was booked into the Detention Center around 4:19am Sunday.
