Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Townville Man on Multiple Charges, Including Arson – 2nd Degree

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Townville man yesterday on multiple charges in relation to four separate incidents, including a charge of Arson-2nd Degree.

21 year old Shawn Lee Foote II of Mark Lane has also been charged with two counts of Driving under Suspension and one count each of Giving False Information, Reckless Driving, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Failure to stop for a Blue Light.

The arson charge against Foote II stems from an incident that occurred on August 21st of this year in which Foote II is accused of setting fire to a camper at an address on Mark Lane in Townville. The arrest warrant was obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division that responded to the incident.

The charges against Foote II for Giving False Information and Driving under Suspension came as the result of a traffic stop on Ames Street on the Utica Mill Hill on October 5th of this year. The driver, later identified as Foote II, provided false information on his identity after the deputy made contact with him. Foote II fled the scene on foot after the deputy positively identified him and was attempting to place him under arrest on the outstanding arson arrest warrant and for driving while having a suspended license.

The charge against Foote II for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle was obtained on October 23rd after deputies conducted an investigation and determined that Foote II had in his possession and operated a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo without the owner’s permission. The warrant was obtained by an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division.

On that same date, two investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Foote II while the suspect was operating the Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Mark Lane. Foote II ignored officer commands, did not pull over and drove away at a high rate while running a stop sign on Shade Lane. As a result, Foote II was charged with Failure to stop for a Blue Light, Reckless Driving and with the second Driving under Suspension charge.

Investigators were later notified on October 26th that the vehicle had been located in the state of Illinois.

At this time, Foote II remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $38,237.50 surety bond.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
