Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Townville Teenager on Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Charge

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Townville teenager Thursday on an outstanding warrant charging him with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

19 year old Christopher Jacob Barrett of Sandy Shores Circle was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 12:32pm Thursday. Barrett was released from the Oconee County Detention Center yesterday on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond.

On December 30th of last year, an employee from the Department of Social Services filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office regarding a report of sexual relations between Barrett and a juvenile on Christmas Eve of last year.

The investigation was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. Based upon evidence that was gathered during the investigation, it was determined that Barrett had sexual intercourse with the juvenile on December 24th, 2020 at a location in the Townville area of Oconee County. The incident on Christmas Eve last year involved only one juvenile.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and that of the victim, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any further information, including any information that could in anyway potentially identify the victim.
