Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Walhalla Man on First Degree Burglary Charge

A 37-year-old man from Walhalla, William David Gunn, was arrested Tuesday morning on charges of first-degree burglary, malicious injury to personal property, resisting arrest, and possession of implements capable of being used in a crime. He remains in the Oconee County Detention Center on a $87,125.00 surety bond. Deputies were called to a burglary in progress on Johnson Drive in Walhalla early on Tuesday morning. When they arrived, they announced their presence but received no response from inside. After receiving permission from the property owner to enter, they found Gunn inside and took him into custody. He claimed he entered the residence to rest and get water but was found with tools in his pockets. Gunn has prior burglary convictions, and the investigation is ongoing.
