Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Walhalla Man on Multiple Drug Trafficking Charges

The execution of a search warrant Thursday by Narcotics Agents and the S.W.A.T. team of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office led to a seizure of multiple kinds of narcotics and the arrest of a Walhalla man.

31 year old James Franklin Gibson, of Coffee Road, had three outstanding arrest warrants. After the search warrant was executed, Narcotics Agents seized approximately five and one-half pounds of Marijuana, 120 grams of Methamphetamine, 26.4 grams of Cocaine, 2 doses of LSD and 139 baggies of edibles ranging from gummies to cookies to chocolate brownies and muffins. Narcotic Agents also seized a quantity of U.S. currency and mushroom grow kits that were in active phase.

Gibson has been charged with one count each of Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of LSD. The three outstanding arrest warrants against Gibson were obtained based on controlled purchases made by undercover operatives.

Based upon those purchases this year, Gibson was charged with two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Distribution of Oxycodone.

He remains in jail with a surety bond set at $225,000.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
