Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Donates Money To Students For Washington, DC Trip

(Seneca, SC)——————Last Friday morning, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Foundation presented a check in the amount of $250 to Deputy Chris Johnson, who was awarded the JP Strom award upon his recent graduation from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

The JP Strom award is given to the Academy graduate with the highest academic average in that particular graduating class.

After receiving the award, Deputy Johnson donated the money to 5th graders at Walhalla Elementary School who will be going on a trip to Washington, DC in the spring of 2020. Deputy Johnson donated the money in the memory his late son. In fact, Deputy Johnson would like to raise enough money to sponsor a child and a parent to be able to go on the trip to Washington, DC.

If you would like to donate to this cause, you can contact Deputy Johnson directly at [email protected].

Deputy Johnson is the 5th Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputy to receive the JP Strom award in the last 30 years.
