Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Files Multiple charges against West Union man after weekend incident

(Seneca, SC)——————-The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a West Union man with one count each of Breach of Peace, Malicious Injury to Personal Property and Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person.

Deputies responded to an address on Fernwood Drive in West Union Sunday afternoon to a disturbance call. According to the press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, the victim stated that Clontz was threatening his life and pointing a gun at him.

Upon arrival, deputies detained Clontz and a smell of alcohol was emanating from his person, according to the press release.

Deputies discovers some damage inside of the home and the gun that Clontz used when making the threats was recovered and seized, according to the press release, which goes on to say that Clontz was placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.

According to the arrest warrants, Clontz is accused of shooting the mirror inside the residence with a .22 rifle with the round striking the wall of the home. Clontz is also accused of point the .22 rifle at the victim as well and not in self-defense, according to the arrest warrant.
