Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Honors and Recognizes Deputies and Detention Officers during Recent Promotion Ceremonies

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office recently held promotion ceremonies to honor and recognize Deputies and Detention Officer who not only received promotions, but in some cases, were awarded for their response in saving lives.

“We have not held a promotions ceremony since September of last year due to the current COVID-19 pandemic,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. “However, we felt that it was an appropriate time to go ahead and do so now. The reason we held multiple promotion ceremonies was to reduce the number of deputies we had in a confined space at one time in order to practice social distancing and to keep our deputies, and therefore our citizens, safe in regards to COVID-19.”

On September 22nd, the Sheriff’s Office held a Promotions Ceremony for the Criminal Operations Division and the Special Operations Division. The following deputies were recognized:

Justin Murphy – Promotion to Sergeant in the Training Division

Justin Ward – Promotion to Lieutenant in Judicial Services

Paramedic Kent Whitten – Life Saving Award for use of Narcan on SWAT Call

Dr. Roshan Matthew – Life Saving Award for use of Narcan on SWAT Call

Three Narcotics Agents who work undercover were recognized, two for promotions to Corporal and one for a Life Saving Award for the use of Narcan on a SWAT Call.

Bryan Long – Promotion to Sergeant in Investigations – Property Crimes

Adam Logan – Promotion to Child/Elder Abuse Investigator – CID

Jordei Jameson – Promotion to Sergeant – Financial Crimes Investigator – CID

Rodney Long – Promotion to Sergeant – Animal Control

On September 28th, the Sheriff’s Office held a promotions ceremony for the Uniform Patrol Division. The following deputies were recognized:

Austin Watson – Promotion to Corporal – Delta Shift. Corporal Watson was also awarded a Life Saving Award for the use of Narcan on a call for service as well as a Life Saving Award and a Medal of Merit in regards to a call for service in reference to an attempted suicide.

Joshua Lebrecque – Promotion to First Sergeant – Delta Shift

Kody Klepper – Promotion to Master Deputy – Bravo Shift

Justin Stokes – Promotion to Master Deputy – Delta Shift

Ike Lewis – Promotion to Corporal – Bravo Shift – Corporal Lewis was also named Oconee County Officer of the Year via the 15th annual Anderson – Pickens – Oconee Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet that was scheduled for Monday, March 16th, 2020. The banquet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On September 30th, the Sheriff’s Office held a promotions ceremony for the Oconee County Detention Center. The following Detention Officers were recognized:

Lori McAlister – Promotion to Booking Sergeant

Kimberly Dubose – Promotion to Sergeant – Inmate Services

Ashlee Owens – Promotion to Sergeant – Classification

Shadae Cobb – Promotion to Lieutenant – OP and Security

Jessica Lohman – Promotion to Corporal and Sergeant

Harold Cook – Promotion to Corporal

Leslie Quarles – Promotion to Corporal

Justin Maness – Promotion to Corporal

On October 16th, the Sheriff’s Office held a promotions ceremony for the School Resource Officers to receive their SRO pins for their uniforms and for the recognition of promotions for three SRO’s. The following School Resource Officers were recognized:

Lucas White – Lucas was also recognized for promotion to Corporal

Nicole Lecroy – Nicole was also recognized for promotion to Corporal

Chasity James – Chasity was also recognized for promotion to Corporal

Jesus De Luna Soto; Angel Jennings; Keith Littleton; Scott McMahan; David McNeill; Ryan Overton; Derek Pace; Adam Poore; Robert Sparkman; John Towery

Kyle Edwards – Besides receiving his SRO pin, Kyle was also recognized by the Special Operations Division for his transfer to the P.A.C.E. (Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement) Team.

SRO’s who could not make the ceremony were Roy McKenzie, Michael Thompson and Aaron Hanks
