Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Reported Bomb Threat at Seneca Area Business

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported bomb threat at a Seneca area business on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The E-911/Communications Center received two calls about the threat at Food Lion, located at BI-LO place in Seneca, around 2:22 pm and 2:30 pm. Deputies evacuated the business, blocked access, and began an investigation, with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Bureau. A Bomb Technician from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, along with K-9 Explosive Detection Dogs and handlers from Clemson University Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, searched the store and found no explosive devices. The search concluded around 4:04 pm, and employees were allowed back in at 4:05 pm. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.
