Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Obtains Arrest Warrants on Alabama Man for Dealership Theft

An Investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has obtained two arrest warrants against a Birmingham, AL man in regards to a break-in and theft from a Seneca area car dealership that occurred in the winter of this year.

33 year old Dexter Sherrod Pearce has been charged in arrest warrants with one count each of Second Degree Burglary and Grand Larceny. Pearce is currently incarcerated in the Shelby County, AL Detention Center on unrelated charges.

According to the arrest warrants, Pearce has been charged with breaking into a building at Lake Keowee Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on February 28th and stealing a 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat, valued at approximately $105,000.

Back on March 1st, the Sheriff’s Office issued a news release seeking the public’s help in regards to an investigation into vehicles that were stolen from the dealership. Besides the Dodge Durango Hellcat, two other vehicles, a black 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 and a white 2021 Dodge Charger, were also stolen. The vehicles were stolen sometime around 6:23am the morning of February 28th of this year.

The Dodge Ram pickup was located by deputies the morning of February 28th on Highway 59 near Earles Grove Road. The truck was on the side of the road.

The Dodge Durango Hellcat was recovered by law enforcement in a parking lot in Birmingham, AL on Thursday, July 7th of this year.
