Oconee Economic Alliance recognizes National Small Business Week

This week is known as “National Small Business Week” and the Oconee Economic Alliance salutes the contributions of the small business community in Oconee County. Each year since 1963, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recognizes the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout the country during the week of May 12-16, 2014.  According to the SBA, small businesses create two out of every three new jobs in the US each year. The 23 million small businesses in the nation account for 54% of all US sales. Locally, there are over 1,500 small businesses in Oconee County according to U.S. Census Bureau. The Oconee Economic Alliance recognizes the numerous entrepreneurs and small businesses in our community for their impact in Oconee County. “Small businesses in Oconee County are the backbone of our economy,” said Glenn Buddin, Chairman of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “We appreciate every ounce of hard work they pour into their business as it makes our community stronger. We encourage the citizens of Oconee County to do more business locally and with smaller firms as the ripple effect it has on our local economy is tremendous.”
